Dai-Osaka Shakokai (Senpukan Building):2006.04.08

As part of the cherry blossom viewing event at the Senpukan Cherry Blossom Viewing site sponsored by Dai-Osaka Shakokai Society 002, RE:MO "furniture with movement" was displayed as a set. This project was developed by the Dai-Osaka Shakokai citizen's group, which assumed a leadership role in the project.
While combining RE:MO with an important cultural property is an apparent mismatch, the actual event created a very good atmosphere and revealed new aspects of each, which was an unprecedented development. Moreover, the cherry trees that were in full bloom surrounding both the property and RE:MO brought this event to an impressive climax. This collaboration between RE:MO and cherry blossoms created a truly indescribable beauty.

[Dai-Osaka Shakokai Society]
This citizen's group works to inform the public about important cultural properties and cultural assets located in Osaka. This group invites the public to places that are not normally open to the public, such as this cherry blossom viewing location, and holds such events.
[Senpukan Building]
This building, the oldest existing western-style structure in Osaka, was designed by Thomas J. Waters, an English engineer. It was constructed in 1871 as a reception facility for the Mint Bureau (currently the Japan Mint). In 1956, this structure became the first to be designated as a nationally important cultural property.
